Specification and Technical Sheet – Sep 2010
The product is very soft and gentle to handle and has no chemical or irritant risk to neither human nor animal. It is also confirmed that the product is also inert to bats and rodents.
There are approximately 22 million homes in the UK that either have no or very minimal loft hatch insulation. The use of HatchThatch will prevent the emission of 30kgs per annum of CO2 for the average 3 bed semi-detached house. Taken together if the whole of the UK were to properly insulate using HatchThatch a massive UK total of 700,000 tonnes of easily preventable CO2 could be saved per annum.
Apart from a very positive contribution towards climate change; installing HatchThatch should save the average consumer, with a three bed semi-detached house, about £45 per annum from their heating costs. It shall also keep the home cooler during the warmer season as well.
HatchThatch is a self-adjusting versatile and flexible product that can be easily made to fit any size or shape of loft hatch. It is very easily fitted with a fitting time of just a few minutes and the only tool that is required is either a small knife or a pair of scissors.
First select one of the following 4 sizes that is the closest dimension to your loft hatch – (NB. select a larger product as opposed to a smaller one)
1. 55 x 55cms
2. 75 x 55cms
3. 95 x 55cms
4. 120 x 60cms (suitable for loft hatches that incorporate a loft ladder)
Secondly, remove the loft hatch from the roof assembly and place onto a flat working surface i.e. kitchen table.
Remove the sticky backed Velcro from the product and affix this to your loft hatch 1cm in from all the four edges. (Cut to length if necessary).
Fix HatchThatch to your loft hatch. By squeezing the main body of the product you can adjust to the right size and shape by attaching the two Velcro strips together. This should enable a perfect fit.
Re-attach the loft hatch together with the HatchThatch to the roof assembly. The main body of the product shall insulate the loft hatch and the skirt shall ride up on the ceiling joists to pull the draught excluders into place thus ensuring a tight thermal seal and fit.
