According to government scientists roughly 4% of valuable house heat vents away from either an uninsulated or poorly insulated loft hatch. This lack of proper insulation is costing the average consumer about £40 per annum. The average UK heating cost (oil, gas and electricity conflated) is about £1,000 per annum and rising steeply.

Proper and adequate insulation is the easiest way any household can reduce its carbon footprint. Poorly installed and fitted insulation normally results in cold-spots and these can cause a 28% reduction in thermal protection. It is imperative to increase insulation layers to ideally 270mm with "top up" products and if possible allow a small air gap between layers.
